CREDIT MOBILITY FOR STUDENTS KA1

In the framework EU Erasmus+ Programme: Learning Mobility – Intenational Credit Mobility Action, students can go abroad for 3 to 12 months (including a complementary traineeship period, if planned).

 

The same student  may receive grants for studying or being trained abroad totalling up to 12 months maximum per each cycle of study: 

  • During the first study cycle (Bachelor or equivalent) including the short-cycle (EQF levels 5 and 6)
  • During the second study cycle (Master or equivalent – EQF level 7) and
  • During the third cycle as doctoral candidate (Doctoral level or EQF level 8)

MOBILITY FOR STAFF FOR TEACHING AND TRAINING

EU funded Programme Erasmus+ provides teaching opportunities for the teaching staff of higher education institutions and staff invited from enterprises. Training opportunities are also available for teaching and non-teaching staff employed in an higher education institution.

MOBILITY FOR JOINT DOCTORAL PROGRAMMES AND COOPERATION IN RESEARCH

Many opportunities are offered to doctoral candidates and researchers through Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions in the framework of the EU funded Horizont 2020

CAPACITY-BUILDING PROJECTS IN THE FIELD OF HIGHER EDUCATION KA2

Capacity-building projects in the field of higher education support the modernisation, accessibility and internationalisation of higher education in Partner Countries. These projects build on the success of the Alfa, Edu-link and Tempus programmes.

 The projects aim to encourage cooperation between the EU and Partner Countries and support eligible Partner Countries in addressing challenges in the management and governance of their higher education institutions. This includes improving the quality of higher education, developing new and innovative education programmes, modernising higher education systems through reform policies as well as fostering cooperation across different regions of the world through joint initiatives.

There are 2 types of capacity-building projects:

  • Joint projects: aimed at organisations to help improve curriculums, governance, and the strengthening of relations between higher education systems.
  • Structural projects: aimed at promoting reforms in higher education systems, modernising policies, governance and strengthening relations between higher education systems and the wider economic and social environment.  

Capacity-building projects can be:

  • National projects involving institutions from only one eligible Partner Country
  • Multi-country projects within one single region, involving at least two countries from this region
  • Multi-country projects involving more than one region and involving at least one country from each region concerned

KNOWLEDGE ALLIANCES

Knowledge alliances are transnational and result-driven activities between higher education institutions and businesses.

Knowledge Alliances target cooperation between organisations established in Programme Countries. Organisations from Partner Countries may also participate as partners (not as applicants) if they bring an essential added value to the project. The projects are open to any discipline, sector and to cross-sectoral cooperation.

Knowledge Alliances aim at strengthening Europe's innovation capacity and at fostering innovation in higher education and business.

They intend to:

·         develop new, innovative and multidisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning;

·         stimulate entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial skills of higher education teaching staff and company staff;

·         facilitate the exchange, flow and co-creation of knowledge.

What does it support: 

Examples of Knowledge Alliances activities

Boosting innovation in higher education, business and in the broader socio-economic environment:

  • jointly developing and implementing new learning and teaching methods (like new multidisciplinary curricula, learner-centred and real problem-based teaching and learning)
  • organising continuing educational programmes and activities with and within companies
  • jointly developing solutions for challenging issues, product and process innovation (students, professors and practitioners together)

Developing entrepreneurial mind-set and skills:

  • creating schemes of transversal skills learning and application throughout higher education programmes developed in cooperation with enterprises aiming at strengthening employability, creativity and new professional paths
  • introducing entrepreneurship education in any discipline to provide students, researchers, staff and educators with the knowledge, skills and motivation to engage in entrepreneurial activities in a variety of settings
  • opening up new learning opportunities through the practical application of entrepreneurial skills, which can involve and/or lead to the commercialisation of new services, products and prototypes, to the creation of start-ups and spin-offs

Stimulating the flow and exchange of knowledge between higher education and enterprises:

  • study field related activities in enterprises which are fully embedded in the curriculum, recognised and credited
  • set-ups to trial and test innovative measures
  • exchanges of students, researchers, teaching staff and company staff for a limited period
  • involvement of company staff into teaching and research

Length: 2 to 3 years

Maximum grant award:

EUR 700,000 for 2 years

EUR 1,000,000 for 3 years

Call 2019: Application deadline: 28th February 2019

at 12:00 midday Brussels time (for projects starting on 1/11/2019 or 01/01/2020)

Call 2019 budget: EUR 28,000,000.

Knowledge Alliances may organise learning mobility activities of students, researchers and staff in so far as they support/complement the other activities of the Alliance and bring added value in the realisation of the project's objectives. Mobility activities do not constitute the main activities of a Knowledge Alliance; extending and scaling-up these activities would need to be supported via the Key Action 1 of this Programme or other funding instruments.

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

Strategic Partnerships are transnational projects designed to develop and share innovative practices and promote cooperation, peer learning, and exchanges of experiences in the fields of education, training, and youth.

Overall, strategic partnerships aim to address horizontal priorities as well as field specific priorities in the areas of:

  • Higher education
  • Vocational education and training
  • School education
  • Adult education, and
  • Youth.

There are two kinds of Strategic Partnership; those supporting innovation and those supporting the exchange of good practices.

Strategic Partnerships provide opportunities for a wide variety of public, private, and non-governmental organisations to implement a broad range of activities including, for example:

  • Strengthening cooperation and networking between organisations,
  • Promoting the development, testing, and implementation of innovative practices,
  • Promoting the recognition and validation of knowledge, skills, and competences,
  • Promoting cooperation between regional authorities to develop new systems for education, training, and youth,
  • Supporting learners with disabilities and special needs and ease their transition to the labour market,
  • Supporting education and training professionals to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in learning,
  • Promoting integration of newly arrived migrants and raising awareness about the refugee crisis in Europe
  • Promoting entrepreneurship and active citizenship among young people.

Strategic Partnerships can be of different sizes and conduct different activities depending on the objective of the project, the organisations involved, the expected impact, and other elements.

Within the scope of the project's objectives, there are also opportunities for pupils, students, learners, and staff to learn, be trained, or to teach abroad, insofar as these transnational teaching, training and learning activities contribute to the achievement of the project's objectives.

Participating organisations intending to apply for an opportunity must be based in a Programme Country.

Applications must be led by an organisation established in a Programme Country and must generally involve at least three organisations from different Programme Countries.

Exceptionally, partnerships in the field of school education and youth may involve at least two organisations from different Programme Countries. Partnerships in these fields can also choose to apply for specific formats of "School Exchange Partnerships" and "Transnational Youth Initiatives". A simpler application process and a slightly modified set of rules apply for these special formats.

Applications can include any number of organisations. They may also include organisations from Partner Countries, provided that they bring essential added value to the project.

Higher Education Institutions established in Programme Countries must also hold a valid Erasmus Charter for Higher Education.

Strategic Partnerships can have different durations depending on the field:

  • Higher education: between 24 and 36 months
  • Adult education, school education and vocational education and training: between 12 and 36 months
  • Youth: between 6 and 36 months

Grants for projects are generally capped at € 150,000 per year. Grants for the specific format "School Exchange Partnerships" are capped at € 99,000 per year.

Applications should be submitted to the National Agency in the Programme Country where the applicant organisation is established.
