INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AT CHNU
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University is one of the oldest classical universities of Ukraine. It was founded on October 4, 1875 by the decree of the emperor of Austro-Hungary Franz Josef comprising the Faculties of Theology, Philosophy and Law. Nowadays 2 institutes, 12 faculties and a college are functioning at the university. The training of approximately 16 000 students is being carried out in 79 majors at 88 departments. Educational and scientific work is provided by 1208 teachers, including 156 Doctors of Sciences, professors, 779 PhDs, associate professors including 4 laureates of State Awards and 1 corresponding member of National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine. The University has Ph.D. and Doctorate schools, 11 specialized academic boards for the thesis defense.
Teaching staff and students of the university participate in joint scientific programs realized according to cooperation agreements with leading educational and scientific institutions of the USA, Canada, Austria, Germany, Poland, Romania, China and other countries. Nowadays, Chernivtsi National University has signed 174 international cooperation agreements. From 2011 to 2017, Chernivtsi National University implemented 8 joint multinational projects TEMPUS. Within the academic mobility program Erasmus + KA1: Mobility Project for Higher Education Students and Staff, Chernivtsi National University has signed 25 agreements. This year, Chernivtsi National University earned the first place in Ukraine in terms of the number of projects the university won (3 projects) within the Erasmus+ KA2: Cooperation for Innovation and Good Practices. Since October 1999, Chernivtsi University has been accepted to the honorary members of International association of universities “hi Beta Delta” (the USA). Since 2008, CHNU has become a member of the University of Warsaw and Ukrainian Universities Consortium. Since 2009, Chernivtsi National University has been one of the Ukrainian higher education institutions that have signed the Magna Charta Universitatum. In 2010, CHNU became one of the founders and a member of the Consortium of Universities of Ukraine – the Republic of Moldova – Romania.
DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS (For university Invitation letter)
If you want to apply for any study visa you need to get the invitation from the university. Following are the documents required for the same.
• Copy of the passport
• Markseet and passing certificate of highest qualification
VISA/ DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS (For Preparatory course)
After receiving the original Invitation Letter and visa support, students should contact the nearest Embassy of Ukraine and apply for Long-Term study visa (Type D) with the following documents:
• Original Invitation letter
• Original international passport (valid least one year)
• Higher Secondary School certificate (translated into the Ukrainian language
• Medical Certificate showing absence of AIDS/HIV (translated into the Ukrainian language)
• Medical Certificate showing physical and mental fitness (translated into the Ukrainian language)
• Sponsorship Letter from the Parents/Person who is going to bear the expenses for the student during stay/ studying in Ukraine. (It is not a condition for all Nationalities)
• Bank Statement (Least 3 months movement in the account and with balance covering at least first year’s tuition fee and personal expenses)
• 10 Passport size Photos
• Embassy of Ukraine provides services to translate and legalize required documents
VISA/ DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS (For Bachelor Degree)
After receiving the original Invitation Letter and visa support, students should contact the nearest Embassy of Ukraine and apply for Long-Term study visa (Type D) with the following documents:
• Original Invitation letter
• Original international passport (valid least one year)
• Higher Secondary School certificate (For 1st year Bachelor Level students)(translated into the Ukrainian language)
• Medical Certificate showing absence of AIDS/HIV (translated into the Ukrainian language)
• Medical Certificate showing physical and mental fitness (translated into the Ukrainian language)
• Sponsorship Letter from the Parents/Person who is going to bear the expenses for the student during stay/ studying in Ukraine. (It is not a condition for all Nationalities)
• Bank Statement (Least 3 months movement in the account and with balance covering at least first year’s tuition fee and personal expenses)
• 10 Passport size Photos
• Embassy of Ukraine provides services to translate and legalize required documents

• Bachelor Degree & transcripts (For Master’s Level students)(translated into the Ukrainian language
• Masters Degree & Transcripts (For Ph.D. Level students)(translated into the Ukrainian language)Birth Certificate (translated into the Ukrainian language)
• Medical Certificate showing absence of AIDS/HIV (translated into the Ukrainian language)
• Medical Certificate showing physical and mental fitness (translated into the Ukrainian language)
